A nation-wide dairy processor asked IFE to help with their project to install a 30,000-gallon tank for their new distilled water process. The scope of work was to provide all required engineering services for the project as well as project management, sanitary design leadership, specifications, and process drawings for permit and construction.
IFE subcontracted Livermore Architecture and Engineering, Inc. to provide Architectural and Structural engineering as well as permit submission and management. For the process design, block flow diagrams with process mass balance calculations were used to confirm the scope of work which became the basis for P&IDs and then layout drawings. A new dairy style sanitary pump was sized and specified for integration of the tank into the process and sanitary valves and piping were designed by IFE for product flow and CIP tank and lines washes.
IFE managed this project from the beginning through the final installation and startup. Completion took approximately 9 months due to the city permit approval process, but the installation, startup, and commissioning went smoothly for a successful project.
